Refusal was founded in early January 2008 by Timo and Tero Pirhonen. They found the drummer Aleksi Roitto and guitarist Sophie Collard  through the internet and then Timo asked his old friend Niikka Lius if he wanted to sing for the new band. Niikka accepted The Call. The band's name was to be Refusal. Rehearsals started in January 2008 and the first gig was performed in 30th of March 2008 (yes, it is a very interesting trivia information). In the beginning of June 2009 Refusal parted ways with Sophie because of musical differences. Soon after this Nico Sirén took over the second guitar.

Refusal has released four demos  - Obey The Meat Grinder (2008), Next To Nothing (2009), Defining Peace (2009) and Where's Your Heart? (2010). New material is written all the time.
